Sydney Cricket Ground History

The primary development of this arena started in 1880, where two stands were constructed, followed by a tramline. From 1895 to 1909, a cycling track, women’s stand, and floodlights were installed. In 1978, redevelopments of the ground were started by replacing old scoreboards, stands, and floodlights for the public. The SCG trust is still eager to renovate this ground to provide a luxury environment.

Sydney Cricket Ground Capacity

In 2008, 12,000 seats were added to the arena. In 2014, further construction of the stands made seating capacity up to 48,000 people. It has a capacity of 48,601 now.

Seating Plan

The seating plan comprises seven key audiences, including general, reserved, media corporate, private, and premium suits. The nine seating stands are followed by gates for accessibility. A stand of reserved seats only for women is also located near the member’s pavilion. Private suites surround the stadium to provide the best view.

Parking

The nearest paid parking from the ground is located at Moore park that costs 30$ per car; it varies with events. The parking is at 7-min walking distance. You can also find a free parking spot for a limited time at Lang Road. But the most convenient option is finding public transport from the central station.

Pitch Report

The flat track of this ground contains Bulli Soil, making it a dark pitch. It is one of those pitches that have not transformed into drop-in pitches. Mostly, spinners get benefit from this pitch and decide the game course.
