Nottingham Forest vs Hull City Preview
Even though there were six draws in Steve Cooper’s first 12 games in charge of Forest, he kept his new team going as they pulled away from a relegation battle.
Within three months of sitting at the bottom of the table, Forest is now in contention for promotion, aided by 27 points from Cooper’s 14 games on the bench.
While Forest’s supporters won’t get carried away, they are the second-best team on the form table since Cooper’s arrival, and they also possess the fourth-best defense.
Goals are still a problem, but Forest was excellent when they defeated Cooper’s former club Swansea City by a score of 4-1 last time, the visitors scoring three goals over a 20 minute stretch in South Wales.
The East Midlands team have now scored six times during the second half of their most recent double header, leaving Hull with much to ponder despite his own strong form.
For the same number of games, Hull is 15th on the form table, but it’s a different story when only the last six games are taken into account.
Grant McCann has seen his Tigers players surrender 14 points, with four straight wins in a row against Reading and Bristol City.
Hull was undoubtedly disappointed to have led twice in the last of those encounters, but the spoils share has kept them four points behind 22nd.
George Honeyman scored his fourth goal of the season against the Robins, tying the midfielder with Keane Lewis-Potter, while Ryan Longman contributed his fourth goal or assist in just five outings.
