How to Share a Screen on Zoom?

How to Share a Screen on Zoom? Whether you use Zoom for work, school, or just to hang out with friends and family, you may want to show other people something on your own computer. Instead of sending links or attachments, you can use Zoom screen sharing to show others what’s on your screen and talk about it in real time.

How to share your screen on Zoom

Before you use Zoom to share your screen, make sure that everything that can be seen on your computer is safe. For example, if you are sharing a screen during a business meeting, close any windows that don’t have to do with work. Follow these steps to share your screen once you’re ready:

  1. Move your mouse over the Zoom meeting screen to see the menu options. You will see a menu at the bottom of the screen. The option to Share Screen is near the middle.
  2. Click on Share Screen.
  3. Choose the programme or window you want to share from the menu that pops up. The background of the screen you’re on will be bright blue, while the backgrounds of all other screens will be white. If you need to, you can use the scroll bar on the right to move through your options. Click Share once you’ve chosen the window you want to share.
  4. On your computer, make sure that the screen you chose is highlighted in a light blue colour. That shows the window or programme that Zoom will show to other people. If it’s wrong, you can change it in the menu window.
  5. Click Share in the menu window when you’re sure the right screen will show up.

When you have shared your window successfully, the menu window will go away and a new menu bar will appear at the top of your main screen. This menu bar has a lot of options, like a drop-down menu that says “More.” You can move this bar to a different place on your screen(s) if you want to. Many of these choices have nothing to do with sharing your screen. There are, however, a few that you can use when sharing your screen or hosting a Zoom meeting.

choose the following ways to share your screen:

  • Allow people to write on a shared screen, or don’t.
  • You can choose to show or hide the users’ names as they use screenshare.
  • Share sounds from computers.
  • Optimize sharing for video clips that fill the whole screen.

How to Stop a Zoom Screen Share

Sometimes you need to stop screensharing so you can see people’s faces again, talk about something, or let someone else share your screen. You don’t have to stop sharing your screen, though, if you’re just going to start sharing it again. If you do that, when it’s time to show your screen again, you’ll have to start from the beginning.

Click Pause Share instead. This action does exactly what it says: it stops you from sharing your screen but doesn’t close the option completely. When you choose this option, the button changes its name to Resume Share as soon as you click it. You’ll also see a bright orange-yellow bar that says your screen sharing is paused. Just click Resume Share when you’re ready to share again.

How to stop letting other people see what’s on your screen

Find the menu bar to stop showing your screen to other people. It could still be at the top of the main screen you’re using, or you could have moved it. Tap Stop Sharing. Once that’s done, the other people won’t be able to see what’s on your computer screen.

How to Use the Menu Items in the Host Screen Sharing

The host can only let one person share their screen at a time, or they can let more than one person share at the same time. They can even stop other people from sharing their screens so that only they can do it. All of these features can be found in the menu called “Advancing Screen Sharing Options.” Follow these steps to open that menu and use it:

  • Move your mouse over the screen for the Zoom meeting. You will see a menu at the bottom of the screen.
  • Click the tiny white arrow pointing up to the right of the Share Screen button.
  • Click More Options for Sharing.
  • When the menu window pops up, click the option you want to choose based on what you want participants to do.
  • When you’re done making your choices, click the X in the upper right corner of the window.

How to Send Computer Sounds to Others

Zoom doesn’t share computer sounds by default. Most people don’t want to share computer sounds during Zoom calls, but you can choose to do so when you start sharing your screen.

When you’re in the Zoom programme or windows menu, just check the box next to Share computer sound, then click Share. If you choose to share your screen for video clips, the sounds from your computer will also be shared.

Zoom: How to Share Videos

Zoom lets you share any of your screens, so you can share anything running on them, like videos. If you want to share a video in full screen format, you should check the Optimize for full screen video clip box in the programme or windows menu and then click Share.

How to Use Zoom’s Focus Mode

Focus Mode is a setting for Zoom hosts that makes it easy to stay on task. When it’s on, hosts and co-hosts will be able to see everyone’s screen as usual, but participants will only be able to see their own screen and the hosts and co-hosts.

To use this feature, your Zoom desktop client must be at least version 5.7.3. Then, when you’re in a meeting, click “More” and choose “Start Focus Mode.” Once it’s up and running, hosts and co-hosts can “highlight” participants to show everyone what’s on their screens.
